Consumer tips:
1. To test for ripeness, hold the melon firmly with both hands and lightly press the area immediately around the tip of the melon at the opposite end from the stem. Another good indicator of ripeness is a pleasantly sweet aroma.
2. Avoid overripe melons with lumps or soft spots.
3. Keep fresh cut melons refrigerated.
