Sprouts are defined as a vegetable seed that just begins growing - sprouts are the first edible shoots. Sprouts provide unique flavors, and can vary in texture and taste. There are the spicy sprouts -- like radish and onion, and hardy sprouts - like mung beans that are excellent in cooked dishes. The delicate sprouts like alfalfa, arugula and pea shoots are excellent when used in salads and sandwiches.
